Gratitude

by scwhouse

Dear beloved extended community of SCW,

We hope this email finds you all doing very well. We’re writing to inform you that after months of prayer and discernment, we have decided to discontinue the Seattle Catholic Worker and our ministries. As you can imagine, this was a very difficult decision to come to, but ultimately the one we felt God leading us towards. After moving out of our hospitality house, it gradually became clear that we would not be able to continue, and each of us has moved into a sense of calling apart from continuing the Seattle Catholic Worker community.

Our foremost reason for reaching out is to thank each and every one of you for the love, support, and encouragement you’ve given us since we began meeting in spring of 2012. This community has been a blessing to us and (we hope) to many others, and that would never have been possible without everyone who helped us along the way. We truly cannot express how grateful we are to have SCW as part of our individual stories. Thank you for enabling us to be faithful, to see the Word made flesh.

We have decided to disburse the rest of the money in our bank account to a few local ministries devoted to serving the poor and marginalized, offering that money in the spirit it was given and continuing the vision of the Catholic Worker. We trust that this money will go towards helping make Christ’s love known in the world for years to come.

We would invite any additional questions you may have about this process, and will provide our individual email addresses below should you like to keep in touch with us.

God bless each and every one of you. Thank you for everything. We wish you all peace and happiness as we move from this chapter into the next.

Love,
