SCW’s 4th Annual Advent Party/Kumbayawesome Saturday December 5th at 6:00 PM!
It’s that time of year again. While a fiery debate rages over paper coffee cups and businesses gear up to cash in on the holiday season, the air is chilling, the nights are longer, and the poor and marginalized among us suffer even more. Yet in the midst of that, we turn to a season of waiting, of expectation, of new life and new light in deep darkness–a light that doesn’t gloss over the sufferings of the poor and oppressed, but offers true hope and solidarity to all people.
We invite you to celebrate that life and light with us at our 4th annual Advent party, our best bash of the year!!! It’ll be held Saturday December 5th at 6:00 PM at our house (12914 74th Ave S, Seattle, 98178)
As ever, we’ll start with an open meal/potluck (with delicious Christmasy-treats, we’re sure) and move into a space for reflection, creative sharing, and prayer. There’s always rollicking sing-alongs and we always dip into the Advent classics, in addition to original contributions from our extended community.
If you’d like to come but find our location prohibitive, please let us know and we can try and arrange rides. We usually pick up a handful of people from The Hillman City Collaboratory (5623 Rainier Ave S). Also, please bring a dish or beverage or tasty treat to share if you are able.
Let us know if you have any questions. All are welcome and we mean it! Hope to see you there 🙂
